At the March 2015 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Bob Bakish, President and CEO of Viacom International Media Networks announced the launch of MTV PLAY, the first large scale OTT service powered by Vigour Video. The service was introduced as a spearhead of VIMN international mobile strategy:

MTV Play was launched in a variety of European countries, featuring different MTV Live TV channels and an extensive Video On Demand library. The service specifically targets the millennial generation that consumes content online and on the go. Through MTV PLAY, subscribers have access to an extensive library of MTV’s most popular content, as well as a preview episode of new series in advance of their linear TV transmission. Besides a large on-demand library, the application delivers live channels for every country operated, and a personalised ‘discovery’ section that guides users to ‘recently watched shows’, ‘popular’ and ‘promoted’ content.
VIMN selected Vigour for the launch of its new OTT platform because it wanted to proactively address shifts in content consumption by investing in forward looking technology. The partnership makes perfect sense according to Ramon Duivenvoorden, CEO of Vigour.
